Characteristics of Work Under general supervision, this position performs aerial film processing and custom printing operations in support of highway engineering projects and county mapping programs. Examples of Work The following examples are intended only as illustrations of various types of work
performed. No attempt is made to be exhaustive. Related, similar, or other logical duties
are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions
beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions
based on Department needs. The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department is an
"at will" employer.
· l Title and number aerial film.l Make contact prints and enlarge photography. l Compute negative scale and determine enlargement factor for reproductions.l Select, mix, and distribute photo chemicals.l Collect and utilize sensitometric data in process control. l Perform operator maintenance of lab equipmentl Perform digital image processing. l Operate, maintain, and trouble-shoot the aerial camera.l Operate computer-based flight management system. · Utilize precision laboratory equipment to produce photographic productsrequired in mapping and engineering projects.
Minimum Requirements The educational equivalent to a high school diploma.
Graduation from a photographic technical school or two years experience
in a related field. Basic computer
skills. Knowledge of Photoshop
software. Must be able to physically
occupy the seat set-up for the Aerial Photographer on the current aircraft in
use for aerial photography and be able to remain airborne up to four hours
without returning to the ground for personal reasons or needs.
Valid driver’s license. Applicable
to Surveys Division: A criminal background check will be
required to determine suitability of employment, and failure to meet these
standards may cause the applicant to be rejected or terminated from that
