INTERMITTENT CLOSURES ON -30 NEAR BENTON SCHEDULED

LITTLE ROCK (6-7) – Construction around the Highway 5 interchange at I-30 near Benton will cause evening, main lane closures Monday – Thursday next week, according to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD).

  A contractor for the Department will be hanging steel beams across I-30 during the overnight hours, weather permitting.  All work is being performed during off-peak hours to minimize inconvenience to motorists, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

Southern Pavers, Inc., of Pine Bluff, is performing the work under a $6.4 million contract. The work will require temporary lane closures on the following dates and times.

Monday, June 10 through Thursday, June 13

8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. The inside lanes of eastbound and westbound I-30 will be closed between mile markers 117 and 122. Traffic will be limited to one lane each direction with intermittent complete closures of up to 15 minutes beginning at 10:00 p.m.

Motorists should be aware of possible delays and plan accordingly.  Caution should be used when traveling through this or any highway work zone.
