Notice to Media

The following lane and ramp closures associated with work on Interstate 540 in the Fort Smith area have been scheduled for the week of July 29 through August 3. 

LANE CLOSURES 

OKLAHOMA STATE LINE TO HIGHWAY 71 

·         Westbound and eastbound traffic will continue to be restricted to one lane from near the Highway 71 Interchange [Exit 12] to near the Oklahoma State Line.  This lane closure is necessary to allow for shoulder reconstruction along the outside edges of the pavement. 

PHOENIX AVENUE TO HIGHWAY 22 (ROGERS AVENUE)                 

·         From Friday, August 2, through Sunday morning, August 4, the eastbound lanes from Leigh Avenue to Highway 22 (Rogers Avenue) will be restricted to one lane beginning at 6:00 p.m. each evening and will be restored to two lanes before 6:00 a.m. on the following morning.  

RAMP CLOSURES 

·         The following ramps for eastbound traffic will be closed at 6:00 p.m. each evening on the listed days and will be reopened before 6:00 a.m. on the following mornings: 

            Exit 10 on-ramp (Hwy. 45/Old Greenwood Rd.)       July 29 (Mon. night)

            Exit 9 off-ramp (Leigh Ave.)                             July 30 & 31 (Tues. and Wed. nights)

            Exit 9 on-ramp (Leigh Ave.)                             August 1 & 2 (Thurs. and Fri. nights) 

Adjustment of the times and dates of the lane and ramp closures may be required due to weather or other unforeseen traffic conditions.
