WORK SCHEDULED FOR I-40 OVERPASS NEAR RUSSELLVILLE

LITTLE ROCK (8-2)

Contractors for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be working on the Highway 7 overpass on I-40 near Russellville in Pope County next week, according to an AHTD spokesperson. Weather permitting, work will begin at 9:00 am on Monday,  August 5 and continue until 3:00 pm each day, Monday through Friday.

The purpose of the work, in conjunction with the improvements to I-40, is to remove the existing Highway 7 overpass structure. The work will necessitate the closing of Interstate 40 for fifteen-minute intervals, alternating between the east and west bound lanes.

Motorists may want to use an alternate route and should allow extra travel time during the improvements.  As always, motorists are urged to “Think Ahead,” “Buckle-up” and exercise caution when approaching and traveling through work zones.
