Notice to MediaAHTD TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING IN MCGEHEE LITTLE ROCK (9-12)
The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD), Mississippi
Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
will conduct public hearings to discuss the recommended alignment alternative
for the proposed I-69 Mississippi River Crossing, according to AHTD Director Dan
Flowers.
The public hearings will provide an opportunity for all interested
persons to ask questions and express their views regarding the section of
proposed Interstate 69 crossing the Mississippi River and linking Highway 1 near
Benoit, Mississippi, with Highway 65 near McGehee, Arkansas.
The recommended alignment coincides with an I-69 crossing at the location
of the planned Great River Bridge.
Hearings will be held at the following locations:
Tuesday, September 24, 2002 – McGehee, Arkansas
McGehee Municipal Center – 901 Highway 278
4:30 – 7:00 p.m. with short presentations at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. Wednesday,
September 25, 2002 – Benoit, Mississippi
Ray Brooks School – 1827 Highway 1
4:30 – 7:00 p.m. with short presentations at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m.
The public is invited to visit anytime during the scheduled hours to ask
questions and view informational exhibits regarding the proposed
Interstate 69. Comment forms
will be available at the hearing and a court reporter will be available to
record spoken comments. Public
input will be incorporated into the final evaluation of alternative locations
for the planned location for the I-69 Mississippi River Crossing.
