LITTLE ROCK (11-27) 

The following lane closures and ramp width restrictions associated with work along Interstate 540 in Fort Smith are scheduled for December 3 through December 7.

OKLAHOMA STATE LINE TO HIGHWAY 71

·         Eastbound traffic will be restricted at various times to one lane by means of either a moving lane closure or a short-term lane closure from near the Oklahoma State Line to near the Highway 71 Interchange [Exit 12].  This lane closure is necessary to allow for the completion of work adjacent to the roadway shoulder.

·         Westbound traffic will be restricted at various times to one lane by means of a moving lane closure as the contractor completes work adjacent to the roadway shoulder.

These lane closures are anticipated to be in place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

HIGHWAY 71 TO HIGHWAY 22

·         Traffic will be restricted to one lane by means of a moving lane closure as the contractor performs work at various locations in the main lanes. These lane closures will be in the eastbound direction on Tuesday and Wednesday (December 3 and 4).

These lane closures are anticipated to be in place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

ON and OFF RAMPS— EXITS 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 (From Hwy 22 to Hwy 71)

·         The travel way will be restricted to one-half of the ramp width at various times for the contractor to perform work on the ramp pavement.

Ramp width restrictions are anticipated to be in place between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Motorists are urged to use caution and think ahead when traveling through the work zone.  Motorists should remember to Merge Early as they approach the work zone; to Obey the Posted Speeds; to Maintain a Steady Speed; to Leave Room between them and other vehicles; and to Be Aware of Road Conditions in front of them.
