AHTD AND METROPLAN TO CONDUCT HOUSEHOLD TRAVEL BEHAVIOR STUDY LITTLE ROCK (4-9) The Arkansas State Highway & Transportation Department and Metroplan are sponsoring a household travel behavior study scheduled to take place in April and May of this year, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. Metroplan is the Central Arkansas metropolitan planning organization and is responsible for regional transportation planning. The survey, conducted by NuStats/DataSource of Austin, Texas, will interview and collect travel data from 1,000 regional households. AHTD and Metroplan will use the resultant data to update their travel demand models for use in travel forecasting and air quality planning. The survey data of each respondent is kept confidential and only used in combination with that of all the survey households in the study area. The household travel survey will collect data on personal travel for all members age 16 and older of randomly selected area households. Each household resident will receive a customized travel log in which to record his or her daily trips and activities for a 24-hour period. Respondents log trips to work, school, stores, and all other activities, and include the address traveled to and mode of transportation used.
