Plans Made to Remove Fence Tops of Median Barriers

LITTLE ROCK (09-26)

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department plans to remove the chain link fencing that is currently installed atop the concrete median barrier walls on the bridges over the Arkansas River Bridges on I-540, Hwy 64 (Midland Ave.) and Hwy 64 (Garrison Ave.).  The work is scheduled to begin in the Northbound lanes of the I-540 River Bridge on Monday, September 29, 2003.  In order for workers to access the fence to remove it, it will be necessary for the inside northbound traffic lane to be closed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.   Work will progress as weather conditions permit, until the fence removal is completed.

Motorists are encouraged to allow sufficient time for travel and delays.  Alternate routes should be considered to avoid any congestion that may occur through the work site.
