Officers from the Arkansas Highway Police Division of the Arkansas State Highway
and Transportation Department have uncovered another large shipment of illegal
drugs, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.
On Wednesday night, October 1, 2003, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a
tractor-trailer rig was stopped at the Highway Police station on Interstate 40
at West Memphis. During an inspection of the truck, Highway Police officers
discovered several bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 325 pounds, over
two pounds of cocaine and more than $6,000 in cash inside suitcases located in
the sleeper berth.
The driver was identified as Rodney White, age 43, of Memphis, Tennessee.
The co-driver was identified as Terry Ewing, age 25, also of Memphis.
It is believed that they were traveling from Commerce City, California,
to McDonough, Georgia. White and
Ewing were arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to
deliver, a felony, and were booked at the Crittenden County Sheriff’s
Department, where they are awaiting arraignment in West Memphis District Court.
