RUSSELLVILLE BYPASS

LITTLE ROCK (07-23)

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has selected alignment 1A as the preferred route for the Russellville Bypass, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. The selection was made upon completion of the final Environmental Assessment (EA).

The decision is based upon review of the impacts outlined in the EA, consultation with other agencies including the Federal Highway Administration, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and consideration of public comments collected throughout the environmental review process. A Public Hearing was held this past March 4 to take public comments on the EA.

The next step for the Russellville Bypass is to conduct surveys and archeological work, and complete a design for the preferred alternative. Once a preliminary design is complete, a Design Public Hearing will be held in the area for public comment.  After evaluation of those comments, AHTD will request final approval from the Federal Highway Administration to proceed with implementation of the project.
