SMOOTH AND OPEN FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY TRAVELS Little Rock, Arkansas (For Immediate Release) –
State Highway & Transportation Department (AHTD) officials announced that
the 2004 Thanksgiving holiday travel season will have the fewest number of
Interstate lanes closed since active construction began under the Interstate
Rehabilitation Program (IRP) in 2000. Although
not due to the IRP, two miles of the inside lane in both directions will be
closed on I-55 near Turrell for bridge construction. No
lane closures are planned on I-40 in North Little Rock or Conway, or on I-30
from southwest Little Rock to Benton, but active construction and lane shifts
may be encountered. Motorists are
advised to stay alert for merging traffic from on-ramps in construction zones
where traffic must stop before entering the Interstate.
For more information, motorists may contact the AHTD Public Affairs
Office M – F, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. via phone at (501) 569-2227 or email at info@arkansashighways.com.
