The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold a Location Public Hearing in Fountain Lake to discuss plans for a new highway in the area, according to AHTD officials.

          The informal session will be held Thursday, April 7, 2005, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fountain Lake High School , 4207 Park Avenue , in Fountain Lake .

Plans to be shown at the meeting will show a four-lane, divided highway on new location that will be an extension of the Martin Luther King Expressway in Hot Springs .  The highway will extend from Highway 70 East, near Morning Star, northward to Highway 7 North near Fountain Lake .  The project will initially be constructed as a two-lane highway, with plans to add two additional lanes in the future.

The public is invited to visit anytime during the scheduled hours to view displays, ask questions and offer comments.
