FLIPPIN BYPASS OPENS TO TRAFFIC

    LITTLE ROCK (9-27)

Crews working on the $13.7 million Flippin Bypass will open a majority of the new Highway 62 roadway on Monday, October 1, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The contractor, Twin Lake s Quarrys, Inc., still needs to complete both the east and west intersections of the newly located roadway that stretches just over three miles. That work should be completed by Thanksgiving and will complete the project.

While the contractor works on the two ends, the eastern connection to old Highway 62 leading into Flippin will be closed. All traffic will be directed to use the western connection for access to Flippin and Highway 178. Detour signs will be in place during this final construction phase.

As always, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
