LITTLE ROCK (11-15)

WHO:                         Arkansas Highway Commissioners, AHTD Director Dan Flowers, North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Hays and other local officials.

WHAT:                       A photo opportunity and update of the recently begun $3.5 million project to widen and improve East Broadway (Highway 70) in North Little Rock .

WHEN:                       Monday, November 19 at 11:00 am.

WHERE:                    The event will take place on the southeast corner of the construction site located just west of I-30 on East Broadway near Alltel Arena.

                                    To access the area from I-30, travel west on East Broadway, turn left onto Cypress , turn right onto East Washington and turn right into the Areana parking area in front of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.

WHY:                          The event signifies the beginning of work for the $3.5 million project let by the Ark ansas Highway and Transportation Department in August to Weaver-Bailey Contractors, Inc., of El Pa so , Ark ansas .

                                     The purpose of the work is to widen to five lanes approximately one mile of East Broadwa y from Locust Street east to Cornish just east of I-30. The work also includes grade improvement to the roadway just west of I-30 at the site of the old railroad overpass.

                                     Continued widening of East Broadwa y from Cornish east to Highway 165 is scheduled for early 2008.
