NORTH LITTLE ROCK CONSTRUCTION WORK COMPLETED

    LITTLE ROCK (11-30)

Road construction on East Broadway (Highway 70) in North Little Rock has been completed and the road has re-opened, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The section of East Broadway near Alltel Arena, between Poplar and Magnolia Streets, had been closed since November 12 as crews raised the grade at the site of a former railroad overpass.

The next phase of this $3.5 million contract is to widen a mile of East Broadway to five lanes between Locust and Cornish St reet s (east of I-30). Future plans are to continue that widening another 1.6 miles to Highway 165. That estimated $7.5 million project is scheduled for letting in early 2008.
