AHTD PARTICIPATES IN PAVEMENT PROJECT

LITTLE ROCK (10-10) The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) is participating in a national pavement study managed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. Sensors will be installed in a section of I-30 near Malvern that will constantly monitor information such as vehicle class, speed and weight. This information will be used for a study intended to improve pavement life on future road projects.

Beginning Wednesday, October 11, crews will begin working in the shoulder and median areas of westbound I-30 at the 102 mile marker near Malvern in Hot Spring County. Then, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, the right lane will close for approximately two to three days for installation of the equipment.

As always, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
