AHTD TO HOLD STATEWIDE PUBLIC MEETINGS FOR NEW TRANSIT PROGRAMS LITTLE ROCK (11-2) The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold a series of Public Involvement meetings around the State to discuss project requirements for two new transit programs, according to AHTD officials. The meetings will discuss the Job Access and Reverse Commute Program, and the New Freedom Program. The Job Access and Reverse Commute Program provides transportation service to welfare recipients and low-income persons. The New Freedom Program provides transportation service for persons with disabilities. The AHTD has developed a draft State Management Plan for these two programs. The Management Plan describes the policies and procedures that will be used in administering these programs. The public is invited to visit any of the meetings listed below. A presentation will be made by the AHTD at each of these locations after which the public will have the opportunity to ask questions. If special assistance or services are needed, or to receive a copy of the draft plan, please contact the AHTD at (501) 569-2561.
