AHTD TO HOLD PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING IN ALMA

    LITTLE ROCK (11-22)

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold a Public Involvement Meeting in Alma to discuss plans for improvements to Highway 162, according to AHTD officials.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Alma High School, 101 E. Main Street, in Alma.

Plans call for making improvements to Highway 162 in order to reduce congestion through Alma and to provide a bridge over the Union Pacific railroad tracks.  Presented at the meeting will be three alternative corridors: improvements to existing Highway 162 through town, an eastern corridor alternative on new location and a western corridor alternative on new location.  The public is invited to visit anytime during the scheduled hours to view displays, ask questions and offer comments.
