Highway 79B Bridge to be Closed

February 11, 1997 --The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will close a bridge on Highway 79 Business just north of Camden. The closure will take place on Wednesday, February 12 at 9:00 a.m.. The AHTD determined that the bridge should be closed for immediate repairs in order to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Highway 7 and Highway 79 Bypass on Highway 79 Business. The bridge crosses a relief of the Ouachita River.

The closure was prompted by a localized failure at one of the bridge joints. Repairs should take about two weeks to complete, weather permitting, at which time traffic will again be allowed on the bridge.
