ARKANSAS HIGHWAY POLICE OFFICERS
UNCOVER CACHE OF MARIJUANA


March 27, 1997 -- An officer with the Highway Police Division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department confiscated approximately 40 pounds of marijuana from a vehicle on Interstate 40 near Brinkley during an early morning traffic stop Wednesday, March 26, 1997.

The driver of the white Toyota, Charles Q. Stewart, 32 of Sierra Vista, Arizona was arrested at the scene along with a passenger, Raymond B. Bell, 39, of Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.

Stewart gave written consent to a search of his vehicle which revealed individually wrapped packages of marijuana, hidden in the trunk.

Both driver and passenger were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and were transported to the Brinkley City Jail.
