1997 Arkansas State Highway Map Ready for Distribution

April 28, 1997 -- The first printing of the 1997 Arkansas State Highway Map is now available for distribution, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. More than one million maps are expected to be distributed free of charge to the public.

The new map includes messages from Governor Mike Huckabee and the Arkansas State Highway Commission welcoming visitors to the state. There are also insert maps of 17 Arkansas cities, a chart showing mileage between cities, a directory of State Parks, State Historic Memorials, National Parks, National Historic Memorials, National Forest Recreation Areas and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Projects and Parks as well as other useful information for travelers.

The cover features a photo of Arkansas State Highway 88 west of Mena in Polk County.

The maps may be obtained at no charge at any of the Highway and Transportation Department's district headquarters, and tourist information centers. Maps are also available by writing, calling or visiting the Map Sales Section, Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, Baseline Road at Interstate 30, P.O.
