Notice to MediaInterstate 30 Overlay Project to Get UnderwayApril 23, 1997 -- Work will begin Friday, April 25 on an overlay project for sections of Interstate 30 in North Little Rock, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the AHTD. The contractor will begin the overlay process on Friday night at approximately 7:00 p.m. and will be allowed to work continuously, weather permitting, until 6:00 a.m. Monday morning April 28. The project will begin in the westbound lanes of I-30 from its intersection with I-40 in North Little Rock continuing to the foot of the Arkansas River Bridge. Although all three lanes of traffic will be resurfaced, the contractor is required to keep two lanes of traffic open at all times. Work will begin on the eastbound portion of the project Monday night at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. Work will continue each night of the week beginning at 7:00 p.m., but all three lanes must be open by 6:00 a.m. each morning. The North Little Rock portion of the project should be completed on Friday, May 2. This work is part of a $2.45 million project to resurface portions of the interstate in Little Rock and North Little Rock. Lasiter Asphalt Maintenance Co., Inc. of North Little Rock was the low bidder for the project. Work on the Little Rock sections of the project will begin in about one month. Motorists are cautioned that the speed limit will be reduced in work zones. Some delays can be expected along the project route. Motorists may want to use alternate routes or allow extra time.
