Eastbound Interstate 30 Overlay Project to Get Underway

May 12, 1997 --  Work will begin tonight at 7:00 p.m. on an overlay project for eastbound sections of Interstate 30 in North Little Rock, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the AHTD.

The contractor will begin the overlay process on Monday night at approximately 7:00 p.m. and will work continuously, weather permitting, until 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. The work will continue throughout the week each night with all three lanes opening by 7:00 a.m. The North Little Rock portion of the project should be complete next week, weather permitting.

This work is part of a $2.45 million project to resurface portions of the Interstate in Little Rock and North Little Rock. Lasiter Asphalt Maintenance Co., Inc. of North Little Rock was the low bidder for the project. Work on the Little Rock sections of the project will begin in about one month.

Motorists are cautioned that the speed limit will be reduced in work zones and some on and off ramps may be periodically closed. Some delays can be expected along the project route. Motorists may want to use alternate routes or allow extra time.

Another Interstate project is also underway in Little Rock. A contractor for the AHTD is removing light poles along I-30, I-430, I-440 and I-630 for repair. The poles will be cleaned, repainted and replaced. Some periodic lane closures may occur where poles are located along the median. The project is expected to be complete Aug. 29, 1997.

This work is part of a $270,281 project to maintain the existing luminaire poles on Little Rock’s Interstates. Jensen Construction Co. of Des Moines, Iowa was the low bidder for the project.
