AHTD on the Information Superhighway

June 24, 1997 -- A highway of a different variety has been constructed by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). This new highway is the link to the AHTD Internet website, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

The AHTD’s homepage can be found on the Internet at http://www.arkansashighways.com. The Department’s site is one of the quickest and easiest ways for computer users to find out what projects the AHTD is completing and the progress being made, Flowers said.

"This is an excellent tool for citizens from not only Arkansas, but around the world to access information directly from the AHTD. The site is both informative and user-friendly," he explained.

Among the features available on the homepage are news releases and other public information, answers to frequently asked questions, Department organization, e-mail addresses, contractor information, bid documents, public meeting dates and locations, weather conditions, construction activities, tourist information and permits. The site also has links to other state and federal agencies as well as transportation-related topics.
