Notice to MediaHighway 7 Construction to Cause Lane ClosuresJune 23, 1997 -- A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will begin culvert work on Highway 7 in Hot Springs on Tuesday, July 8, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. This project is located immediately north of the Hot Springs Bypass Interchange on Highway 7 (Central Avenue). Lane closures will be necessary to accommodate the construction. The five lanes of Central Avenue will be reduced to two lanes in the project area. The replacement of the existing structure with a larger culvert is designed to meet the drainage requirements of the area. Construction should be complete in approximately three weeks, weather permitting. This work is part of a $222,400 project to replace the structure on Central Avenue. Shiloh Contractors, Inc. of Shreveport, Louisiana was the low bidder for the project. Motorists are cautioned that the speed limit will be reduced in work zones.
