Bridge Construction to Cause Closure

August 27, 1997 -- A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will be periodically closing a portion of I-40 near Russellville on Thursday, August 28, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. The contractor will be working on the overpass that carries Highway 331 over I-40 at Exit 84.

The construction is scheduled to take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Multiple lane closings will take place only on the eastbound lanes for approximately 15 minutes at a time.

The contractor is setting new beams on the overpass and immediately after the beams are in place, the Interstate will reopen to traffic.
