Bridge Inspection to Cause Lane Closures

December 9, 1997 -- Crews from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will be conducting routine inspections of two White River bridges in Northeast Arkansas beginning next week, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

Crews will begin inspecting the Highway 367 Bridge in Newport on Monday, December 15 and continue through Friday, December 19, weather permitting.

Beginning on Wednesday, December 17 crews will be inspecting the Highway 64 White River Bridge near Augusta. Inspections will continue on that bridge until Friday, December 19, weather permitting.

To accommodate the equipment, one lane of traffic will be closed on each bridge between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day. Both lanes will be open and normal traffic flow will resume at the end of each workday.

No over-width vehicles will be allowed across the bridge during the lane closure periods.
