I-40 Repaving to Cause Ramp Closure

May 13, 1998 -- Maintenance crews from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will repave the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 at Mayflower beginning Monday, May 18, according to Dan Flowers, AHTD Director.

The overlay project will necessitate closing the easternmost on-ramp in Mayflower starting at 8:30 a.m. The ramp should reopen Monday evening, weather permitting. Portions of the main eastbound lanes will also be closed during the day to facilitate the overlay process. Motorists should use the Highway 89 interchange on-ramp as an alternate access to the eastbound lanes of I-40.

Concrete pavement patching will force closure of the outside westbound lane on

I-40 at Mayflower beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20. This lane closure will continue through midday Thursday, May 21, weather permitting.

Motorists may want to use Highway 365 as an alternate route or allow extra time during the project period.
