AHTD to Hold Public Hearing on Improvement of Highway 63

May 18, 1998-- The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold an open forum public hearing from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 1997, at the Bono Fire Station, 102 Shelly Street in Bono. The hearing offers citizens the opportunity to express their views on the proposed widening of a 2.5-mile segment of U.S. Highway 63 in Craighead County.

The proposed project generally consists of widening the existing roadway to a width of 70 feet. The design calls for four 12-foot travel lanes and a six-foot median. Shoulders along the project length will be eight feet. The location of the widening is from the southern end of the proposed Bono Bypass to the four-lane divided section of U.S. Highway 63 in Jonesboro.

The open forum hearing allows citizens the opportunity to attend anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Personnel will be on hand during those hours to explain the proposed design, answer questions, and take written or oral comments about the project.

Preliminary plans, information relative to environmental studies, proposed right of way acquisition, and other pertinent information relative to the proposed project, as well as written statements received from interested persons, agencies or groups, are available for public inspection and copying at the office of the District Engineer, AHTD, 2510 Kingshighway, one mile west of the junction of Highways 49 and 412 in Paragould.

Anyone wishing to submit written statements or other exhibits in place of, or in addition to, written statements made at the public hearing may submit them to the District Engineer, AHTD, P.O. Box 98, Paragould, Arkansas 72451-0098. Such submissions must be received no later than Friday, June 12, 1998.
