Highway Police Patrol Vehicle Receives Design Award

LITTLE ROCK (7-21) – The Arkansas Highway Police Division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has been recognized for the design and look of their patrol cars, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

The Highway Police patrol unit won third place in the Federal/State Category of the 1998 International Police Vehicle Design Competition. The contest is co-sponsored by Law and Order magazine and the 3M Corporation.

More than 300 law enforcement agencies from around the world entered vehicles in the 10th annual competition. Entrants are evaluated based on the image they project, how the vehicle graphics enhance safety, ease of identification, and practicality.

The Highway Police will receive $100 for placing third in the competition. This money will be donated to the Arkansas Special Olympics. All winners are showcased in the July 1998 issue of Law and Order.
