Notice to MediaNew Speed Limits To Go Into EffectLITTLE ROCK (9-22) -- Crews from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will begin erecting new speed limit signs on selected highways in Pulaski County on Wednesday, September 23. The process is expected to take approximately two days to complete in Pulaski County. The Highway Commission voted at its September 22 meeting to increase speed limits at several locations around the state. Speed limits will increase from 60 to 65 miles per hour for passenger cars and trucks on suburban freeways and some rural expressways. Speed limits on urban freeways will increase from 55 to 60 miles per hour for both cars and trucks. Rural freeway speed limits will remain at 70 miles per hour for cars and 65 miles per hour for trucks. The new speed limits will go into effect when signs are posted in an area. New signs will be erected in affected areas outside of Pulaski County beginning next week. Areas affected in Pulaski County include the following:
Increasing to 65 miles per hour I-430; I-440; I-30 from the Mablevale West Interchange to the I-440 Interchange; I-40 from the Burns Park Interchange to the I-430 Interchange; I-40 from I-440 to the Prothro Junction Interchange; U. S. Highway 67/167 from the Kiehl Interchange to the Air Base Interchange.
Increasing to 60 miles per hour I-40 from the Burns Park Interchange to the Prothro Junction Interchange; I-30 from I-440 to I-40; I-630; U. S. Highway 67/167 from I-40 to the Kiehl Avenue Interchange. #### For Further Information Contact:
