I-30 to be Closed Periodically for Construction

LITTLE ROCK (5-24) -- The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will periodically close a portion of I-30 at Chicot Road in southwest Little Rock, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

The road closures are necessary due to the Chicot Road/I-30 crossover project. A contractor for the AHTD will be hanging steel beams over the Interstate and will periodically close the highway in both directions for up to 15 minutes. Both eastbound and westbound inside lanes will be closed beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, May 25, weather permitting. All four lanes will be closed beginning at 10:00 p.m. for no more than 15 minute intervals. The contractor should complete this portion of the project by 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, weather permitting.

Thomco, Inc. of North Little Rock, Arkansas was awarded a $2,129,137.08 contract for the work. The project is expected to be complete by Summer 2000.
