Railroad Overpass Removal to Cause East Roosevelt Road Closing

LITTLE ROCK (6-16) – East Roosevelt Road between Confederate Boulevard and Commercial Lane will be closed to through traffic for approximately two months beginning Monday, June 21. The road is being closed to allow a contractor to remove the railroad overpass on the route.

Confederate Boulevard, I-440 and Airport Road will serve as the detour routes during the closure. Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the change.

The overpass is being taken out at the request of the City of Little Rock who is responsible for that portion of Roosevelt Road. The overpass is no longer needed because the railroad tracks beneath were taken out several years ago. The overpass will be replaced by a section of roadway consistent with existing Roosevelt Road on either side.

Tri-Star Construction Company of North Little Rock is performing the work under a $711,150.28 contract.
