Notice to MediaContractor to Begin Resurfacing Project in MorriltonLITTLE ROCK (6-22) -- A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will begin resurfacing portions of two Morrilton highways Wednesday morning, June 23, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the AHTD. The project provides for the resurfacing of Highway 64 from the west city limits of Morrilton to Highway 9B and Highway 95 from Highway 64 to Harding Street. The project will be resurfaced in a two-phase process. The first phase involves grinding off the top layer of asphalt on the existing roadways. This work will take about one week for both highways. The second phase includes laying a new asphalt driving surface. This work will also take about a week to complete. Motorists should be aware that this will be a moving operation and the contractor may be working past dark on certain days, weather permitting. Caution should be exercised when traveling through this or any highway construction work zone. The Rogers Group of Greenbrier, Arkansas, is the contractor for the project.
