Notice to MediaConstruction to Cause Lane Closure on Highway 70 and 270 in Garland CountyLITTLE ROCK (7-9) A project to install turn lanes on two highways in Garland County will force the temporary closure of one lane of traffic during the construction period, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). One lane of traffic will be closed beginning Monday, July 12 at the intersection of Highway 70 and Moore Road. The lane closure will take place beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m. Once the turn lane is complete at Highway 70 and Moore Road, the contractor will move to the intersections of Ragweed Valley Road and Highway 270, West Pine Street and Highway 270 before finishing the project at the intersection of Highway 227 and Highway 270. Lane closures will be in effect for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. "There really is not a good time to perform this type of work," commented Flowers. "The construction will only take place between the peak periods of rush hour traffic. This type of progress requires a lot of patience," he added. Martin-Marietta of Malvern is the contractor for the $149,000 project. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution when traveling through this or any highway construction work zone. It is suggested that motorists allow extra travel time or find alternate routes during specified lane closure times. #### For Further Information Contact:
