Notice to MediaRaymar Road Overpass to Open on I-30LITTLE ROCK (8-20) A project to construct a new overpass on I-30 between Bryant and the Pulaski County line is complete and will open to traffic Monday, August 23, 1999, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). The overpass is scheduled to open around 9:00 a.m. Construction began on the Raymar Road overpass in November 1997. A $2.4 million contract was awarded to Southern Pavers, Inc. of Pine Bluff for the work. The overpass carries Raymar Road across I-30 and connects the frontage roads on both sides of the Interstate. Access on and off of I-30 is not provided at the overpass. The Raymar Road overpass is the first of five new crossovers to be constructed between Little Rock and Benton on I-30. The crossovers are the first step in the process to convert the frontage roads to one-way operation. Connecting the frontage roads at regular intervals will make it easier for motorists to access businesses and residential areas along the frontage roads once they are converted to one-way operation. In addition to the Raymar Road location, a crossover is under construction at Chicot Road in southwest Little Rock. Construction of crossovers at Vimy Ridge Road, Springhill Road, and Highway 5 will be underway soon. #### For Further Information Contact:
