Arkansas Highway Commissioner Elected to National Committee

LITTLE ROCK (10-18) – Arkansas Highway Commission Vice Chairman John "M" Lipton of Warren has been elected Vice Chairman of the Special Committee of Commissioners and Boards of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

Lipton’s election came at the AASHTO Annual Meeting held in Tulsa, Oklahoma October 2-5. Chuck Brown of Wyoming will chair the committee in the coming year, Lipton will serve as Vice Chair, and Donna Wanitschke of Nebraska was elected Secretary. Lipton previously served as Secretary of the committee.

The Special Committee of Commissioners and Boards develops programs for presentation to the AASHTO general membership and recommends policy positions and resolutions to the AASHTO Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Meetings are scheduled by the Chairman as needed to enable the committee to complete its duties.

"I’m very pleased to serve as an officer of this committee," Lipton said. "With so many things happening in transportation on the national level, I think it’s important to stay as informed as possible. Serving on this committee provides an excellent opportunity to obtain that information and to share with commissioners from other states."
