Lane Closure Scheduled on I-30

LITTLE ROCK (12-9) -- Crews from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be removing an overhead sign structure from I-30 near downtown Little Rock Sunday, December 12, 1999, according to Dan Flowers, AHTD Director.

The sign is located over the eastbound lanes of I-30 on the railroad overpass between the south terminal interchange and the Roosevelt Road exit. The two right-hand lanes will be closed to traffic beginning at 6:00 a.m. to begin the sign removal process. At approximately 8:30 a.m., all eastbound lanes will be closed for up to 15 minutes to allow the sign structure to be removed. Once the sign is clear of the roadway, all lanes will reopen.

Repeated storms have damaged and weakened the structure. Temporary signs will be installed until a permanent sign assembly can be erected.
