Notice to MediaAHTD to Hold Public Hearing on Proposed White River Bridge in ClarendonLITTLE ROCK (4-5) --
The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold an
open forum public hearing from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25 at the
Clarendon City Hall in Clarendon, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. The
hearing offers citizens the opportunity to express their views on a proposal to
replace the Highway 79 White River Bridge. The proposed project generally consists of
construction of a new bridge across the White River on U.S. Highway 79 in
Clarendon. The project also
includes structures over First Old River Lake, Roc Roe Bayou and the St. Louis
Southwestern Railroad. The proposed
6.6-mile project begins at the Prairie/Monroe County line and ends at Arkansas
Highway 86. The open forum hearing allows citizens the
opportunity to attend anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Personnel will be on
hand during those hours to answer questions and take written or oral comments
about the project. Information relative to environmental
studies, proposed right of way acquisition and other pertinent information
relative to the proposed project, as well as written statements received from
interested persons, agencies or groups, are available for public inspection and
copying at the office of the AHTD District Engineer, 2701 U.S. Highway 64, west
of the junction of Highway 1 North in Wynne. Anyone wishing to submit written statements
or other exhibits in place of, or in addition to, written statements made at the
