Notice to MediaChicot Road Overpass Opens on I-30LITTLE ROCK (4-20) – A project to construct a new overpass on I-30 in Southwest Little Rock is complete and open to traffic, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). Construction on the overpass was completed April 20. Construction began on the Chicot Road overpass in December 1998. Thomco, Inc. of North Little Rock, Arkansas was awarded a $2,129,137.08 contract for the work. The overpass carries Chicot Road across I-30 and connects the frontage roads on both sides of the Interstate. Access on and off of I-30 is not provided at the overpass. The Chicot Road overpass is the second of five new crossovers to be constructed between Little Rock and Benton on I-30. The Raymar Road crossover on I-30 opened last year. The crossovers are the first step in the process to convert the frontage roads to one-way operations. Connecting the frontage roads at regular intervals will make it easier for motorists to access businesses and residential areas along the frontage roads once they are converted to one-way. Crossovers at Vimy Ridge Road and Springhill Road are presently under construction, while a crossover project on Highway 5 will be underway soon. #### For Further Information Contact:
