Notice to MediaI-40 Reconstruction to Cause Mayflower Ramp Closures
LITTLE ROCK (6-27) – Reconstruction of Interstate 40 at Mayflower will necessitate
alternately closing the eastbound on-ramp and the westbound off-ramp at Highway
89 beginning Thursday morning, June 29, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. Starting
Thursday at 9:00 a.m., the eastbound on-ramp will be closed until 3:00 p.m. to
facilitation construction. On
Friday, June 30 beginning at 2:00 a.m. the westbound off-ramp at Highway 89 will
be closed until 10:00 a.m. At
the same time as the ramp closures, a single eastbound and westbound lane will
be closed. During the construction
period, both eastbound lanes will be open between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
Both westbound lanes will also be open between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
each day. All construction will
take place at the announced times, weather permitting. The
work is being expedited in preparation for the July 4th holiday
weekend. All lanes should be open
from mid-morning Friday, June 30 through the evening of Wednesday, July 5. Freshour
Construction Co., Inc. of Cabot, Arkansas was awarded a $15,185,047.72 contract
for the six-mile project. The work
is expected to be complete later this year. Motorists
may want to use Highway 365 as an alternate route or allow extra time during the
construction period. For up to the
