Bridge Maintenance to Cause Lane Closure on I-40/I-55 Ramp in West Memphis

            LITTLE ROCK (8-1) -- Crews from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will be conducting routine maintenance on an Interstate overpass in West Memphis, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

            The bridge deck at the I-40 eastbound ramp to I-55 northbound is scheduled to be repaired beginning Wednesday, August 2 and continuing on Thursday, August 3, weather permitting.  Work will also take place on Monday, August 7 and continue through Thursday, August 10.

To accommodate the equipment, traffic will be moved to the shoulder of the ramp between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day.  At no time will the ramp be closed to motorists.  Traffic will be rerouted back onto the travel lane and normal traffic flow will resume at the end of each workday.

Motorists may want to use an alternate route or allow extra travel time during the lane closure.
