Overpass Construction to Cause Evening Lane Closures on I-30

LITTLE ROCK (9-8) – Construction of an overpass at Springhill Drive on I-30 between Benton and Bryant will cause evening lane closures on I-30 next week, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD).

      A contractor for the Department will be hanging safety platforms across the main lanes of I-30 during the overnight hours on Monday, September 11 and Tuesday, September12, weather permitting. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, the inside lanes in each direction will be closed at the Springhill Drive overpass until approximately 6:00 a.m. the following morning. On Tuesday night, the outside lanes will be closed beginning at 7:00 p.m. and continuing to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Motorists should be aware of possible delays and plan accordingly. Extreme caution should be used when traveling through this or any highway work zone.

Work on the Springhill Drive overpass is being performed by Southern Pavers of Pine Bluff under a $6.4 million contract. The contract also includes construction of an overpass on I-30 at Vimy Ridge Road near the Pulaski/Saline County line.
