Highway 5/35 Overpass in Benton Undergoing Repair

    LITTLE ROCK (5-4) – Crews from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be making repairs to a bridge over Interstate 30 at the intersection of Highways 5 and 35 in Benton, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

    The work is necessary to repair steel support beams damaged by an over-height load striking the beams on Saturday, March 10, 2001.  The repairs will take place Mondays through Thursdays, May 7 through May 24, from 9:00 a.m. to   4:30 p.m. daily, weather permitting.  The repair work will require closing the eastbound outside lane of Interstate 30 at mile-marker 116 to accommodate equipment.

    Motorists may want to use alternate routes or allow extra travel time during the lane closure periods.
