Repairs Underway to Bridge on Interstate 40 Near Mayflower

LITTLE ROCK (5-8) – A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be making repairs to the Palarm Creek Bridge on Interstate 40 east of Mayflower on Wednesday, May 9, according to Dan Flowers, Director of the AHTD.

The work is necessary to repair a joint seal on the bridge.  The repair work will require closure of the eastbound outside lane of Interstate 40 at the Palarm Creek Bridge.  Crews will be making repairs to the bridge on Wednesday, May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Traffic will be routed onto the shoulder during the repair period. Only a short distance of roadway will actually be closed while the repair work takes place.

Motorists may want to use an alternate route or allow extra travel time during the closure.  As always, motorists are urged to “Think Ahead” and exercise caution when approaching and traveling through work zones.
