Notice to MediaHighway 65 North Interchange in Conway To Undergo ImprovementsLITTLE
ROCK (5-18) – The
Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be making
improvements to the Highway 65 North interchange in Conway beginning Monday, May
21 through Thursday, May 24, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.
In
order to minimize inconvenience to the traveling public, work will take place
during off-peak hours. Beginning
Monday night, there will be alternating north and southbound lane closures on
Highway 65 from 10:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, and again from 10:30
p.m. Tuesday night until 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. During daytime hours on Wednesday and Thursday, there will be
alternating lane closures on Highway 65 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing
until 3:30 p.m. each day, weather permitting.
The
Department will utilize maintenance crews to improve the Highway 65 North
interchange to relieve congestion at the ramps. The crews will repave the turn lanes and create a northbound
acceleration lane at the interchange to improve the flow of traffic exiting on
the westbound I-40 off ramp. “This
interchange is heavily traveled and the work planned for this area will have a
positive impact on traffic flow,” stated Flowers.
Motorists
may want to use an alternate route or allow extra travel time during the
closures. As always, motorists are
urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up”, and exercise caution when traveling
through work zones. ####
