Notice to MediaHighway Work Scheduled for Highway 161 near Prothro Junction
LITTLE ROCK (6-11) –
A
contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department
(AHTD) will be installing concrete barriers near Exit 157 at Prothro Junction on
Highway 161 in North Little Rock Tuesday, June 12 through Friday, June 15,
according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.
The barriers are needed for traffic control and to enhance safety for
motorists.
The work is part of the
reconstruction of Interstate 40 from Highway 67/167 to Lonoke County line.
As part of the work, it will be necessary to temporarily close northbound
and southbound lanes on Highway 161 in the immediate area of Interstate 40 from
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, June 12.
In addition, overnight lane closures are planned on Wednesday, June 13,
and Thursday, June 14, from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The closure times have been established to minimize inconvenience to motorists. Motorists may want to use an alternate route or allow extra
travel time during the closure. As
always, motorists are urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up”, and exercise
caution when approaching and traveling through work zones. ####
