Notice to MediaHighway Construction Underway on I-30 Crossover Near County LineLITTLE ROCK (7-9) – A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be hanging structural steel on the Vimy Ridge Crossover of Interstate 30 near the Pulaski/Saline County line on Tuesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 12, 2001, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. The
Vimy Ridge Crossover is part of the $150 million rehabilitation and widening
work scheduled for Interstate 30 between Little Rock and Benton.
As part of the installation of the structural steel, it will be necessary
to temporarily close both lanes of the south frontage road along Interstate 30
at Vimy Ridge and the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30, weather permitting. The
work will require temporary lane closures on the following dates and times: Tuesday, July 10,
2001
7:00
p.m. – 6:00 a.m. - Both lanes of the south frontage road along Interstate 30
at Vimy
Ridge will be closed in 15-minute intervals during this construction period. Thursday, July 12,
2001
7:00
p.m. – 6:00 a.m. The eastbound outside lane of Interstate 30 will be closed in
conjunction with the crossover work during this entire time period.
The eastbound inside lane will be closed in 15-minute intervals during
this period. Even
though all work is being performed during off-peak hours to minimize
inconvenience, motorists may want to use an alternate route or allow extra
travel time during the closures. As
always, motorists are urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up” and exercise
caution when approaching and traveling through work zones. ####
