ROCK (8-17) – The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD)
now has available the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and the
identification of a selected alignment for the Southeast Arkansas I-69
connector, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. AHTD
Commission Chairman John “M” Lipton of Warren, said “This project is
important to future economic growth in Southeast Arkansas. The extension of the
interstate system from Canada to Latin America is the ultimate goal and we must
meet the needs for that system here in Arkansas.” The
report is available for public review at the Pine Bluff, White Hall, Star City,
Monticello and Warren Public Libraries, the libraries at the University of
Arkansas Pine Bluff and Monticello campuses, and various municipal offices. “The
selected alignment meets the project purpose and need, provides excellent access
to most communities, and offers the lowest estimated construction cost,” said
Flowers. Persons
wishing to submit written comments may do so by October 1, 2001 to: Mr. Randy Ort, AHTD Public Affairs Officer, P.O. Box 2261,
