Highway Officers Make Drug Arrest Near Mayflower

LITTLE ROCK (8-17) – A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be installing concrete barrier walls near the 65th Street exit beginning Monday, August 20, weather permitting, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

This work is part of the Interstate Rehabilitation Program, which will improve 60% of the state’s 655-mile Interstate system.  This particular project is being done in conjunction with the reconstruction of approximately two miles of Interstate 30 from the Arch Street Bridge to 65th Street.

The work will require temporary lane closures on the following dates and times, weather permitting:

Monday, August 20

  • Beginning at 9:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, it will be necessary to close the westbound outside lane for an extended period to install a concrete barrier wall in conjunction with reconstruction of a section of Interstate 30.

Monday, August 20 through Thursday, August 23

  • In addition to the westbound outside lane closure, the westbound middle lane of I-30 will be closed from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily for installation of a concrete barrier wall as part of the reconstruction of I-30.

Wednesday, August 22

  • The westbound off-ramp at 65th Street will be closed for an extended period as part of the work to install a concrete barrier wall in conjunction with the reconstruction work on I-30.  Westbound traffic wanting to use 65th Street should take the Scott Hamilton Road exit as an alternate route to access 65th Street.

  • The eastbound inside and middle lanes will be closed from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning to complete striping of the roadway for lane shifts in conjunction with the installation of the concrete barrier wall.

As always, motorists are urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up” and exercise caution when approaching and traveling through work zones.
